For Episode 53, we celebrate the music of four-time reggae Grammy award winning artist Ziggy Marley, inna Dub Session stylee, including two tracks from his recent Grammy-winning album “Love is My Religion.”Ziggy Marley’s career spans more than 20 years, and includes more than eight album, dozens of EPs, singles and remixes. For this special artist showcase, selector DJ ChillWill has hand-picked some of Ziggy’s best rare tracks, remixes, dubs, versions, b-sides, covers, and collaborations and put them through the Dub Session beat blender.

Dub Session DS episode 53 “Getting Ziggy With It” illuminates some of our favorite rarities and hits from Ziggy’s 20+ year career playing with the Melody Makers, as a solo artist, collaborating with other musicians, with the Fugee All-Stars, and of course with the Marley brothers Stephen, Jr. Gong, Rohan and others. Not only can the eldest of the brothers get Ziggy with it, but many others have sought to get with Ziggy. This episode features some great duos, collaborations, out-takes, soundtracks, and key work supporting younger brothers Stephen & Jr. Gong in their budding solo careers as well as working together as “The Marley Brothers. ”

MAD PROFESSOR – Live at The Eletronic Picnic (Ireland/2006)

 Neil Fraser nasceu em Georgetown, na Guiana, em 1955. Durante seus nove e dez anos de idade já começou a mostrar interesse pela eletrônica construindo sozinho seu primeiro rádio… Mad Professor, como começou a ser chamado anos depois, se mudou para Londres aos treze anos dando início a sua louca jornada no Dub. Em meados de 1975, comprou seu primeiro Reel-to-Reel Tape-Recorder, na época insuficiente para um DJ profissional, o que o alertou a comprar mais equipamentos até enfim montar seu estúdio. Batizado de Ariwa, o estúdio do Mad Professor teve origem em um bairro do subúrbio de Londres, mudando-se em 1980 para um local muito mais amplo e apropriado para seus experimentos eletrônicos. Após um tempo Neil Fraser conseguiu montar sua clientela e hoje o estúdio é local de gravação de grandes nomes do reggae inglês e jamaicano. Junto com Jah Shaka, Pato Banton, Johnny Clarke, Lee Perry, Massive Attack, Horace Andy e outros grandes nomes, Mad Professor fez e ainda faz trabalhos que resgatam o verdadeiro Dub e Reggae de raíz, fazendo shows semanais pelos quatro cantos do mundo.

Show de quase 01 hora, totalmente alucinante pra quem curte viajar nas batidas desse fera do DUB. Aisha, know how ‘High Priestess’ veio pra completar o show, com a voz enlouquecedora, que entra na mente, não consegue deixar ninguém parado, sem viajar. Enjoy it!

Donavon Frankenreiter Band Live at Martini Ranch on 2003-04-03 (April 3, 2003)

Playing at the martini ranch in Encinitas, CA Donavon played with his full band, including Dean Butterworth (drums) and David Leach (percussion). Dean and David were Innocent Criminals and played in Ben Harper’s band as Ben Harper and the innocent criminals from 1996-2001.

The three of them with a bass player, Matt, have recorded a full length EP limited run album, which can be purchased on donavon’s web site below.
